David L. Powers has practiced law in Bay City, Michigan for over twenty years, and is a shareholder with Smith, Martin, Powers & Knier, P.C.  He co-founded and currently serves as Vice President of Save Our Shoreline, a 3,200-member organization of Great Lakes property owners.  Dave also served as president of the Bay County Bar Association; former chairman of the Bay City Downtown Management Board; and board member of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.  In his role with Save Our Shoreline, Dave helped negotiate passage of Michigan’s Beach Grooming Law, 2003 PA 14.  He was also lead counsel for the property owners’ position in the widely publicized case of Glass v Goeckel, 473 Mich 667 (2005), involving the extent of riparian and public rights along Michigan’s Great Lakes shoreline.  Dave is listed in “Who’s Who in American Law” and “Who’s Who in America,” and in 2006, he was named “Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics Magazine.
